Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
Michael A. Gleiber, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon focusing his practice exclusively to injuries and diseases of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Dr. Gleiber treats all spinal disorders including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, myelopathy, degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, spinal trauma, and tumors and infections of the spine. Dr. Gleiber has received specialized training in the latest microsurgical, minimally invasive, and motion preserving spinal procedures and has a special interest in complex spinal problems. He works closely with rehabilitation experts as well as pain management specialists for "patient-centered" non-operative care when indicated for his patients.
Dr. Gleiber earned his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. He was the recipient of several awards including the Julius Nevaiser Award for the most promising future as an orthopedic surgeon, the Alec Horwitz Scholar Award, and he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors.
After medical school, he completed his internship in general surgery and residency at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Gleiber was recognized by the faculty in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University. As a resident, he received the Harold M. Dick Award for excellence in orthopedic surgery, the Harrison McLaughlin Award for trauma resident of the year, and the Leonard Marmor Surgical Arthritis Foundation Award. Dr. Gleiber was selected to serve as Administrative Chief Resident in his final year at Columbia. Additionally, Dr. Gleiber was selected to become a member of the Emerging Leaders Program with the American Orthopaedic Association.
After residency, he attended The Kenton D. Leatherman Spine Surgery Fellowship where he received neurosurgical and orthopaedic training in all areas of the spine. While in fellowship, a significant portion of his time was devoted to spinal trauma and spinal cord injuries at The University of Louisville Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Hospital.
Dr. Gleiber holds memberships in various professional organizations, including the North American Spine Society, The American Orthopaedic Association's Emerging Leadership Program, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Gleiber is an active lecturer and physician educator speaking both locally and nationally on the topics of minimally invasive spinal interventions and the most current surgical procedures.
