Edward H. Mkrdichian, M.D.
Neurological Surgery
Edward H. Mkrdichian, M.D., is a founding member of
the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch
(CINN), and the Institute for Brain and Stroke Care
at CINN. He is director of clinical neurosurgery at
CINN and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Rush
Medical College, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
A board-certified neurosurgeon with over 20 years of
experience, Dr. Mkrdichian is a leading authority on
the diagnosis and treatment of primary and metastatic
brain tumors including gliomas, meningiomas and pituitary
tumors. He is also highly regarded for his treatment
of spinal cord tumors and degenerative diseases of the
spine. Dr. Mkrdichian is esteemed for his expertise
in stereotactic neurosurgery.
Dr. Mkrdichian earned his medical degree in 1979 from
Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois. He received
residency training in neurological surgery at Northwestern
University Medical School, and The Childrens Memorial
Hospital, Chicago, where he was honored with the Eleanor
Clarke Award for outstanding patient care in 1985. After
completing his residency, Dr. Mkrdichian served as visiting
clinician in stereotactic neurosurgery at Mayo Medical
Center, Rochester, Minnesota. In 1986, he returned to
Chicago and established his practice at CINN.
Dr. Mkrdichian holds memberships in several professional
organizations, including the Congress of Neurological
Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
