Vasospasm

treatment of vasospasm

A dangerous side effect of subarachnoid hemorrhage that irritates the blood vessels on the surface of the brain causing them to constrict erratically, cutting off blood flow.

Balloon angioplasty for proximal vasospasm

This procedure requires the use of tiny balloon catheters that are inserted in the micro catheter through the femoral artery and threaded through to the affected blood vessels. Once in place the balloon is inflated to widen the affected blood vessels and increase blood flow.

Papaverine infusion for distal vasospasm

In this procedure a micro catheter is navigated from the femoral artery all the way into the intracranial circulation to the area of abnormal circulation or occlusion where a local therapeutic infusion is given into the cerebrospinal circulation.
